Employment

Overview

Located in Waterbury, Connecticut, the State Education Resource Center (SERC) was created in 1969 to support the CT State Board of Education in Connecticut’s pioneering efforts on behalf of children with special needs. In 2014, SERC was made a quasi-public agency by the Connecticut General Assembly, enabling SERC to expand its services and further fulfill its mission and vision: Equity. Excellence. Education.

SERC provides resources, professional learning, and a centralized library to educators, families, and community members in collaboration with the CT State Department of Education and other partners. The agency works collaboratively with Connecticut schools and school districts, professional and community associations, faith-based organizations, and others to provide an array of services that support its mission. The SERC Library and the Connecticut Parent Information and Resource Center (CT PIRC), housed at SERC, provide centralized resources for educators and families across the state.
