Dr. Diane Clare-Kearney was recently appointed to the Board of Directors and serves on the SERC Operations Committee. Dr. Clare-Kearney attended Lincoln University in Pennsylvania and received a Bachelor’s Degree in English and French. She received her Master’s Degree and Sixth Year Degree from Central Connecticut State University in Educational Administration and received her doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2012. Dr. Clare-Kearney currently is the Director of the Department of Race and Equity and Adult Education and has been an educator for the last 35 years. She taught English and French at the high school level. She also served as a Vice-Principal and a Principal at both the elementary and secondary levels. Dr. Clare-Kearney has been instrumental in developing programs for young adults to foster leadership and citizenship. She has been awarded several awards for her work, including P-12 Multicultural Educator of the Year, the 2018 Honoring Friends award and the 2019 George A. Coleman award for Excellence in Equity. She continues to be completely devoted to the children and families of her community. In 2020, her portrait was included in a mural that highlighted notable activists in the struggle to eradicate racism and to uplift equity. Dr. Clare-Kearney believes that race is the container that holds all of the identities so beginning with race is first and foremost.
