Morning Keynote Speaker: Calvin Terrell
Calvin Terrell is founder and lead facilitator of Social Centric; an organization he designed to provide education and training for all ages to enhance human interactions and global progress. He is a former Assistant Director of the National Conference for Community Justice/Anytown USA Arizona Region. He has taught for Upward Bound at Arizona State University and the Arizona National Guard’s Freedom Academy. For more than twenty years, Calvin has lectured, trained, and lead comprehensive workshops for valuing diversity, equity, and justice building in schools, corporations, and civic organizations for thousands of adults, children, and youth throughout the United States.
Lunch Keynote Speaker: Aaron Jafferis
Aaron Jafferis is a playwright and teacher whose hip-hop musicals (Be)longing, Smooth Criminal, Stuck Elevator, How to Break, and No Lie look at racism through the lens of violence, class, immigration, health care, and the urban/suburban divide, respectively. Aaron is one of the national playwrights and local organizers (with Long Wharf Theatre, Black Lives Matter New Haven, and others) of the Every 28 Hours Project, and does anti-racist social justice work with Just Moves and Collective Consciousness Theatre. A former Open Rap Slam champion at the National Poetry Slam Championships, Aaron founded The Word youth poetry program in New Haven, and teaches theatre for social change in schools, colleges, and organizations nationwide.
