Parental Involvement Recognition Award

2026 Call for Nominations

SERC's Parental Involvement Recognition Award was inspired by Project Appleseed, the national campaign for public school improvement and home of National Parental Involvement Day, celebrated each year in November.

SERC is seeking nominations of parents from Connecticut schools and/or community organizations to highlight and honor exemplars of parental involvement who have made positive changes in their child's environment and a difference in their 2025/2026 school year.

Criteria

Award recipients will be selected based on the following criteria:

• Active involvement in their child's/children's school and/or community;
• Support of their local school and contributions to high-quality education for all children;
• Evidence of their ability to make a difference in their local school and/or community; and
• Dedication and advocacy to ensure equity for all parents and their children.

Nominators and awardees will be notified no later than Tuesday, March 10, 2026 via email and invited to attend a recognition award celebration held on the evening of Thursday, April 2, 2026.

A Complete Nomination

A complete nomination package should include the following: a nomination entry form, a letter of nomination (one (1) page limit), biography of Nominee (one (1) page limit), two letters of support (one (1) page limit each).
