SERC is happy to welcome Dr. Isabelina Rodriguez to Connecticut! The CT State Department of Education has announced that Dr. Rodriguez, a Massachusetts educator for 30 years, will be the new bureau chief of CSDE’s Bureau of Special Education.

SERC works in collaboration with the bureau chief to help provide professional learning opportunities in schools and districts related to special education. We are excited to support the bureau’s efforts under Dr. Rodriguez’s leadership.

The bureau chief position is currently vacant. Dr. Rodriguez will assume her new position in late March.

Currently superintendent for the Granby, Mass., Public Schools, Dr. Rodriguez began her career as a special education teacher in Springfield. She held administrative positions in Springfield and then Northampton, Mass., where she served as director of special services and later superintendent.

Dr. Rodriguez has led school-change efforts throughout her district to raise the achievement of all students, according to CSDE. We look forward to working with Dr. Rodriguez to help achieve our vision of equity and excellence in education.
