Overview

The goal of this day was to increase people's awareness about autism, especially children with autism. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is part of a group of complex developmental disabilities of neurobiological origin.

The State Education Resource Center (SERC), in collaboration with the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE), was pleased to present "Connecting the Dots: Linking Resources for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Families, and Educators." As with World Autism Awareness Day, this event was designed to increase awareness about autism. The day featured presentations on current research and resource materials that addressed the different phases and challenges facing students with ASD. Participants gained knowledge from sessions on current topics related to transitioning into adult life for students on the Autism Spectrum.
