What happens when great teachers come together to lead professional learning?

Nearly 200 Connecticut teachers found out when they participated in the “Empowered to Lead” symposium, run by the CT Teacher of the Year Council and SERC.The symposium, subtitled “Grow the Profession: Cultivating Collective Capacity,” was all about how teachers could enhance their leadership in their schools, districts, and the entire educational landscape.

The CT Toy Council and SERC had worked together on the annual ceremony honoring the state and district teachers of the year, held most recently on December 2, 2014, at The Bushnell in Hartford. In the weeks that followed, the organizations planned the symposium, which would be free to teachers of the year and open to any educator seeking to build their “collective capacity.”
