Call for Breakout Presenters

The 4th annual conference on Dismantling Systemic Racism, sponsored by the State Education Resource Center (SERC) in collaboration with the SERC Foundation, focuses on ways to support, promote, and develop racial equity in education. The full-day conference supports educators, families, and community leaders who seek to confront racist structures and practices to better serve Connecticut’s students and their families, through advocacy and the development, implementation, and sustainability of innovative, culturally relevant programming.

Systemic racism impedes our students’ outcomes and limits opportunities for success in academics, social development, health, and family engagement. This Call for Presenters is intended to solicit dynamic, thought- provoking presentations that will address possible ways to dismantle systemic racism and create positive change for our students. Proposals are welcome from individuals and groups from any location.

The conference goal is for participation of up to 500 people, with about 50 participants per breakout. Participants may include general and special educators, administrators, students, family members, community members, business leaders, and all who play a role in a child’s life.

Proposals should relate to the conference theme of Race, Education and Success. Special consideration will be given to proposals that highlight student voices or have students as co-presenters. Sessions may be directed at a general audience or a specific population (e.g., elementary educators, high school educators, students, families). Each breakout session will be 90 minutes long.

For proposal consideration, please include the following:
