Education Guidelines for the Prevention and Management of Lead Poisoning in Children - 2014

These guidelines were developed to inform the practice within school districts regarding: lead prevention; early identification of students exposed to and affected by lead; and educational programming in response to lead exposure in order to mitigate existing or potential deficits. Information within this resource publication corresponds with results from an analysis of the effects of early childhood lead exposure on test performance among Connecticut schoolchildren. The study was conducted by researchers at Duke University’s Children’s Environment Health Initiative who were engaged by the Connecticut State Department of Education and the State Department of Public Health.
