EDUCATION

SERC is currently seeking qualified candidates for full-time Consultant openings on its IDEA Team with experience with one or more of the following:

  • Inclusion Specialist
  • Middle and/or High School Level Secondary/Tertiary Intervention Support Specialist
  • Low Incidence or Severe Needs Disabilities Specialist
  • Transition Specialist

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in special education, early childhood/special education, or a related field, although a Sixth Year Certificate or Doctorate is preferred. SERC Consultants design and oversee implementation of SERC’s various training and technical assistance initiatives and partnerships.  They also provide on-site professional development and technical assistance to partnership schools and districts. 

Applicants must have:

  • specific expertise, education, and experience in special education and/or early childhood special education, including strong knowledge of effective strategies that meet the needs of special needs learners in inclusive general education settings, particularly students with autism, intellectual disabilities, visual and/or hearing impairments, and/or behavioral/emotional challenges;

  • experience working in early childhood education and care or in public schools or programs;

  • demonstrated ability in heterogeneous, inclusive settings; and

  • experience in design, delivery, and evaluation of high quality professional development and follow-up application of learning and project development and management skills; and

  • polished oral and written communication skills.

The ideal applicants will also have demonstrated effectiveness in a collaborative, highly team-oriented environment yet possess initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.  Candidates from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and candidates with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
