Overview

The U.S. Department of Education has approved Connecticut’s plan for equitable access to excellent educators. The federal Excellent Educators for All Initiative requires states to create these plans to fulfill requirements of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), and Connecticut was one of 16 states to receive approval for its plan on the first round. The state’s district-based grant program for increasing representation of Black and Latino educators is a key strategy in the plan. The program is funded by the CT State Department of Education’s Talent Office and managed by SERC’s Amy Aparicio Clark and Kc Nelson-Oliveria.
