Culturally Responsive Family Engagement: Using Data to Identify Best Practices for Families of Children with Disabilities Featured

Creating synergy between parents and schools around authentic culturally responsive family engagement can lead to better outcomes for student with disabilities. During this interactive workshop, educators will explore their personal definition of culturally responsive family engagement, examine district data (based on a parent survey), examine how their individual participation contributes to the partnership of shared responsibility for the success of all children, and learn about the Dual Capacity Building Framework as it relates to special education. Using the framework, participants will discover best practices on culturally responsive family engagement that move from random and isolated efforts to a more systemic, integrated, responsive and sustainable approaches to culturally responsive family engagement.
